Since we are a frugal bunch over here in the Brown house, I’m trying hard to pre-plan some meals that won’t break the bank now or when the baby comes and TJ is left to fend for himself in the kitchen while I recover from the birth.
We know we’ll have family and friends helping out, but I like to prepare for the worst, or at least prepare to give myself some kind of grace period in the kitchen while we all get used to being a family of FOUR!
I have to admit that there is an added challenge to freezer cooking if you have a kiddo like mine who can’t have things smothered in cheese. There are just a lot of good looking recipes out there doused in cheese! But I’m making it happen!
Everything I make will have portions that are “Sadie-friendly” with no wheat or dairy included so they are already set to go. For example, her burritos and taquitos won’t have cheese and will be made with her rice tortillas or corn tortillas.
Whether you are having a baby or not, having a nice supply of food to go to in your freezer will save you time, save you money, and save you sanity!
So in the next 2 weeks or so, I plan on making all of this stash to keep in the freezer for us to survive off of and hopefully keep the eating out to a minimum:
- Pizza Dough & Fixins’ (Everything including the dough, sauce, cheese, etc. can be portioned out and put into smaller ziplocks so you can put the entire contents into a full size freezer bag ready to pull out to defrost the morning of or night before. I’ll be making Sadie pizza bags with her own GF dough and soy cheese and our own pizza bags).

- Bean & Cheese Burritos
- Steelcut Oatmeal
- Energy Bites
- Chicken Taco Stew
- Brown Rice
- Shredded BBQ Chicken
